How dental implants work
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth in two parts: a titanium post that integrates with the jawbone over a few months, and a custom crown fitted on top once healing is complete. The result looks and functions like a natural tooth and, unlike a bridge, does not rely on the teeth either side for support.
Treatment begins with a CBCT 3D scan. This shows the bone in three dimensions, so your dentist can decide whether an implant is suitable and plan its exact position before any surgery. Where bone is limited, a graft may be recommended, and your dentist will explain why and how it changes the timeline.
What to expect during treatment
Placement is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually straightforward. After a healing period of roughly three to six months — during which the implant integrates with the bone — the final crown is fitted. For international patients, this two-stage timeline is planned around your travel, with remote check-ins between visits.

Your dentist examines the area and takes a CBCT 3D scan to confirm suitability and plan the exact implant position before any surgery.

The titanium implant is placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic during a short surgical visit.

Over roughly 3–6 months the implant integrates with the bone; remote check-ins are arranged for international patients.

What to expect
Recovery
Mild swelling or tenderness for a few days, managed with simple pain relief. Most people return to normal activities the next day and follow a softer diet briefly.
Time in Bali
Plan for approximately 7 days in Bali for the surgical phase and initial healing check. A return visit is recommended for the final crown after an osseointegration period of about 3–6 months; remote check-ins are available in between.
